First, let me thank you for considering something such as therapy for yourself! I've always said some of the strongest, most resilient, amazing people I've met have been through my counseling practice. It's not an easy thing to do but here you taking that step!
Second, thank you for considering me as someone who you might invite to come along with you in that step!
In hopes of giving you a better idea if I'll be a good fit for that role, let me share a bit about myself...
My "Formal" Experience
I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Cincinnati in 2014, volunteered and worked in the mental healthcare field since 2015 then received my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University in 2019. I began working in private practice shortly thereafter and have been ever since.
My Life Experience
Life... where do I start; am I right?!
My own personal journey has taught me how incredibly valuable it is to have a solid support system but that that's not always available to us. Sometimes in life, the self is all we have. In those moments, we have to call on our own strengths and abilities.. but what happens when we don't know what that looks like, it's never been shown to us or nurtured and developed? The short answer is we are offered an opportunity to decide, create and practice whatever that looks like in a way that is unique and authentic to one's self! Which is a blessing and a curse and can be really difficult to do in an environment that doesn't allow much for that! That's where I believe outlets like therapy give us the opportunity to "figure it out."
